Peace, Love, Mod...Pizza That Is: Now in St. Charles and in a Neighborhood Near You

MOD Pizza joints seem to be popping up all over the place: Wentzville, Kirkwood, Wllisville, Cottleville, and Saint Charles (across from Lindenwood).

We recently sample the fare at the St. Charles location at the Lindenwood/Schnucks plaza: 1988 1st Capitol Drive. [ ; 636.669.0540]

This counter-service pizza joint allows you to select toppings and amounts (think Chipotle or Q'Doba for pizza). They then bake your pizza up in a wood-fired kiln. Prices rand from $5-12 for standard pizzas.

This model is really geared towards the individual; but the pizzas are certainly fine to split. We tried the TRISTAN (that's my son's name) which consisted of mozzarella, asiago, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and pesto. We also ordered a DILLON JAMES: mozzarella, asiago, basil, garlic, tomatoes, red sauce. We also did a pineapple and daiya cheese (for the vegan in our pack). And a side of garlic strips.

All was downed quickly and completely. Meaning we like it. Quite a bit actually.

The staff was upbeat and having fun.

They do offer shakes (we didn't partake), soda and local beer on draft.

Certainly worth checking out.
